What Is Physiotherapy? Physiotherapy is a health care profession directed at returning the client to pre-injury level, and promoting a healthy lifestyle. Physiotherapy is a primary care, autonomous, client-focused health profession dedicated to: * Improving and maintaining functional independence and physical perfomance * Preventing and managing pain, physical impairments, disabilities and limits to participation * Promoting fitness, health and wellness Who is a physiotherapist? Physiotherapists have a detailed understanding of how the body works. They are trained to assess and improve movement and function, as well as relieve pain and promote good health. A physiotherapist plans, organizes, and directs programs in rehabilitation, often with the goal to prevent future injury. They may work directly with clients or undertake a consulting role in the treatment plan. How can Great Lakes Physiotherapy help you? We are here to serve anyone who requires rehabilitation. Our dedicated, experienced, knowledgeable team of professionals work together to identify the nature of each clients problem and develop an individual recovery strategy with an active approach (see services). Who can use our services? Anyone who has sustained an injury - in a motor vehicle accident, while playing sports, or just by being active. Is a referral necessary? A medical referral is not needed, but may be required if paid through extended health care benefits. Who pays for physiotherapy?
